Our Country Needs Bigger Balls
Our independence is not negotiable – it’s our right. We won’t be dictated to or dismissed. We will not remain silent. We will stand up and raise our voices – not just to be heard, but to create real change.
In my view, this is the attitude Canadians must adopt in response to the reckless tariffs imposed by our so-called friend to the south. If we want any hope of remaining a strong, independent, sovereign nation, we cannot sit back and hope it all works out. That kind of passivity is both naïve and dangerous.
We need to meet this challenge with a bold, audacious, rule-breaking mindset—an attitude that doesn’t come naturally to our typically reserved nation. But that’s exactly what makes it powerful.
What I’m talking about is a Radically Canadian attitude—a term first used by the Canadian Football League in the late 1990s when the league was on life support. To shake Canadians out of apathy and indifference toward this uniquely Canadian institution, the CFL launched a bold and controversial marketing campaign.
It was called Radically Canadian, and it was all about proudly embracing Canadian identity—not quietly, but with energy, creativity, and defiance. Its cheeky slogan said it all:
“Our Balls Are Bigger.”
The campaign worked. It sparked a grassroots movement that brought Canadians back to the game—and back to believing in it. Most importantly, it put real pressure on the league to deliver the transformational change needed to survive and thrive.
Now, it’s time for a new Radically Canadian movement—but this time, on a national scale.
A grassroots uprising that puts pressure—real pressure—on our politicians, business leaders, and institutions to work together and act boldly. A movement that demands the kind of unity and compromise we’ve never seen in this country before.
Why do I believe this is necessary?
Because this is our country, our future, and our fight—and it’s time we started acting like it.
